Carpe Diem: Full Pink Moon

The Algonquin Nation historically called April’s full Moon the Pink Moon because this full Moon heralded the appearance of the moss pink, one of the first spring flowers.

This Friday, the Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Aries opposes the Moon in Libra. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time - a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. (

  1. What a wonderfully composed haiku on full pink moon. Love the extra information you have shared here. Here in The Netherlands the 'full pink moon' of April is already at the sky.

  2. Fertilization? I think I'll leave my wife alone and sleep on the couch until this is over.

  3. the ancient (and not so ancient) beliefs and customs always fascinate....I want to believe the Algonquins today...

  4. i didn't know this about the pink moon. it is a gift.

  5. Pretty poem...
