The cool rain prompt is a nice way to ease back into things. I have many inspirations in art, music, literature film, comedy ... one of my all time favourites is renaissance man and modern day poet Pete Townsend. This particular prompt reminds me of his classic "Love Reign O'er Me" which the Who perform live in Madison Square Gardens.
On the dry and dusty road,
The nights we spend apart alone.
I need to get back home
to cool, cool rain.
I can't sleep and I lay and I think,
The night is hot and black as ink.
Oh God, I need a drink
of cool, cool rain.
Sam, the Who came immediately to my mind too...I saw the Who numerous times in the 70's and '80's....At Boston Garden, Keith Moon fell off his drum stool and the concert was re-scheduled....
ReplyDeleteOh man Im jealous!!! They are my all time favorite group. I love how Pete and roger hate each other. I'd never heard that story before abot Keith .. cool cool.
DeleteHey Joanne I see this clip is actually from 1994 in London Hyde Park ...
DeleteI missed The Who world. I was listening to Barry Manilow. Nice lyrics though.
ReplyDeleteYes I am kind of dating myself ... but these guys are timeless to me. Hmmm Barry Manilow you say ...
DeleteWonderfully written haiku Sam. I know The Who, but this song doesn't ring a bell.
ReplyDeleteHey thanks Krisjaan. As you know I am really just stating to learn about haiku. I really like the idea of Haibun - a mix of haiku and prose as i understand it.
DeleteThe who is a gem I started to long after they are gone. The sad Club 27
