Inspire Howl Wing - Ella's Edge |
*******
She exploded onto the scene
with a roar
exaggerated by silence
and patiently waiting
for my Wild Man to mature
She taught me strength
by embracing weakness
with tender nipples
and mid month bloating
she showed majesty
in the face of travesty
She showed me I was too strong
to be powerful
bleeding is beautiful
true beauty moves
it bends mountains and men
Once her presence was known
she folded into gentle steel
growled quietly
at dangerous strangers
and watched with amusement.

Toads are revisiting old prompts - I chose to get in touch with my wild woman.
Ah -- women can be strong.. strength can be to embrace weakness... really insightful... do not know if I wan't to have wild men..
ReplyDeleteGreat image and exploration of this voice,Sam.
ReplyDeleteWow! Unique images reveal their inner truth. There are no cliche's here. The final two stanzas ARE SWOON WORTHY.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing way to embrace the feminine compliment to the masculine wildness. When it comes to survival, men will shed the blood of others, while women will shed their own - the protector and the protected, one to give and one to receive. This is a very bold piece, which really speaks to me about the nature of relationships.
ReplyDeleteI love it, specially the roar folding into gentle steel ~ A fine writing Sam, thanks for a wonderful tribute to womanhood ~
ReplyDeleteSam, this is a wonderful poem!!! My favorite verse being this:
ReplyDeleteShe showed me I was too strong
to be powerful
bleeding is beautiful
true beauty moves
it bends mountains and men
This is brilliant and so beautiful.
Kiss.
You are a wise man as well! A very nice compliment to womanhood!
ReplyDeleteVery well done, Sam! Kenia already quoted my favorite (gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!) lines.
ReplyDeleteI'm with MZ and Kenia— "true beauty...bends mountains and men"! Well done, Sam, so well said.

Love this....The strength of a woman is something few understand, but you have captured it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteOh Sam .. I am woman, hear me roar! Thank you for writing this. (does wild man ever truly mature?)
ReplyDeleteI love the folding into gentle steel.......good one, Sam! Love Ella's art, too - amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood write :) I have a sneaking suspicion this was influenced by our Game of Thrones marathon (Daenarys) :) xoxo
